I watched John McCain announce Sarah Palin as the Republican vice presidential running mate and was intrigued. Some questions that it raised for me… Was Palin chosen primarily to appeal to former Clinton supporters? Is Palin ready to be president, if something were to happen to John McCain? How will Obama and / or Clinton […]

Prayers for my Dad
I am on my way to Wichita this morning to be with my dad, Mark Conard, who is having a medical procedure this afternoon. I am going to make a short trip down and back today and ask for your prayers for my dad for healing, for my mother, Joyce, as we watch and wait […]
McCain, Obama and Warren – One Week Later
I finally got around to watching the Civil Forum on the Presidency hosted by Rick Warren at Saddleback Church. DVR is a great thing. I was looking forward to the interaction between Warren and each of the candidates, excited that the first time that they would be on the same stage after becoming presumptive nominees […]
On Monday this week, I was blessed to have a small part in CaMMp Sonflower, a 4 hour day camp for people of all ages with special needs. The camp is a part of Matthew’s Ministry here at Resurrection. Here is a quick overview of the ministry: As I watched the campers and volunteers gather […]
It has been a crazy day. Here’s the run down… Phone call from my dad letting me know that my grandmother on my mom’s side died early this morning. This was not unexpected, but that does not necessarily make it any easier. Funeral will likely be Monday or Tuesday in Plains, KS. Went to the […]
A New Home

Happy Fourth of July
I really enjoy the 4th of July and love the United States. However, I am very clear that my first allegiance is to God and that my primary identity is as a child of God, disciple of Jesus Christ, and enlivened by the Holy Spirit. Let’s celebrate.
It’s a New Day
It is a brand new day here at Resurrection. Day 1 of Year 3 for me under appointment in The United Methodist Church. Welcoming Jeff for his first day here, settled in to the new office space. Life is good.
Blogging Break and Prayer Request
My grandmother, Nora, is likely nearing end of life and I am traveling with my siblings to see her this week. I will not be blogging for the rest of the week and would ask for your prayers for her and for all of us. Thanks.
Transitions – 2006
After a week full of clergy transitions here at Thoughts of Resurrection, I thought I would share a slice from a personal transition that happened in 2006. This is a video that was produced for the wedding reception when Nicole and I were married on June 3, 2006. Have a great Friday and enjoy the […]
Father’s Day 2008
Happy Father’s Day to my dad Mark Conard! When we are together, I am often told that we look similar and I always thank people for the compliment. He has taught me a lot about what it means to be a man, a pastor, leader, how to love, care and truly welcome everyone. From when […]
