A few weeks ago, I responded to a question that people often ask when they find out that I was a part of the New Church Leadership Institute. There are any number of people who may be asking the question for today – pastors considering starting a new church, people who may be a part […]
jimmorrow asked a couple great questions in the last post on Granger Community Church about what we were looking for on the trips to Willow Creek and Granger. In this trip we (Resurrection senior staff) visited what I would characterize as two different types of congregations – one that was larger than we are are […]
Great Coffee
In between hospital visits this morning, I discovered what I think may be the best coffee shop in Kansas City – The Roasterie Cafe. I think it rivals Murky Coffee in DC. Good stuff, great coffee.
On both Monday and Tuesday we experienced great hospitality from both Willow Creek and Granger Community Church. It has really been a great trip. We are headed back to Kansas City this morning – some more debriefing, brainstorming and networking on the bus is coming up. Our bus pulled up to Granger yesterday morning after […]
Worship Space at Willow and Granger
These are two short videos of the main worship space at Willow Creek Community Church and Granger Community Church. At Granger, the video screens are what is visible as the video was taken during video playback. It’s not great video as it was taken on my digital camera (not video camera), but it may give […]
It was a good bus trip yesterday. I am actually blogging on the bus this morning. That’s right, Clif Guy, IT extraordinaire set us up with a rolling hotspot. Sweet! You can check out some pictures from yesterday on my Flickr stream. We stopped at the self-proclaimed “World’s Largest Truck Stop” in Iowa for lunch […]

First, a marriage assessment will be completed using the ENRICH and MATE inventories. The second part of the class will focus on communication and conflict […]
Early this morning, I am headed off on a road trip with 28 other staff from Resurrection. You guessed it, time for the fall 2007 senior staff retreat! Twice a year there is a retreat for ministry director level staff (a particular level in our organization chart – link to PDF). It is usually a […]
Personality and Spiritual Wholeness
The Enneagram, meaning nine types, is a psycho / spiritual tool for discerning one’s personality type. This class will teach you how to use this tool for inward spiritual transformation, a goal of the Christian life. This two part class will be facilitated by Rev. Nancy Pauls, S-Z Pastorate and Dr. Scott Pauls. It will […]
I have been a part of the team that is helping decide the next generation church management system that will be used at Resurrection. Yesterday there was a team from Fellowship Technologies that gave a demo of their Fellowship One solution. This afternoon will be a demo from the Shelby Arena team. I realized yesterday […]
Great question. This was a question that was a common part of the New Church Leadership Institute last week. It has also been a common follow up question when people ask either how my trip was last week or where I was last week. I have been considering this question or variations of this question […]
John 3:16 is, for many reasons, one of the more well known verses among religious and non-religious people: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. These words have implications for communities and individuals and for creation. […]
