Psalm 30 and Staff Chapel

Today in staff chapel, we focused on giving thanks. As a part of the service we had the opportunity to write our own psalm using a particular psalm for inspiration. Half were given Psalm 30 and half Psalm 138. I had never written my own psalm before and I found the experience to be profound and meaningful. I started verse by verse, didn’t quite make it all the way through, but think it is good as it is. Here is what I have from Psalm 30:

I will praise you God, because you don’t let me stay down. You stand me back on my feet.

You are right there when I need you to gather up the pieces and put them together.

You save me from death: physical, spiritual and emotional.

Everyone, let your soul sing to the amazing God!

God’s anger passes quickly and God’s smile is always toward us. We may be sad for a while, but joy is coming soon.

When I’m feeling good. I can tell others of strength and confidence.

God, when I walk in your way, you direct my path and show me the next step. When I turn away from you, it hurts me and you.

Give me peace, O LORD, save me from myself.

How can my disobedience lead to any sort of good? No thing and no one can follow you for me.

Listen to me, O God, turn me back to you; show me your dream for my life.
