At Resurrection our purpose is to build a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians. The Adult Discipleship team has done a lot of work around the question – what does a deeply committed Christian look like? Part of the answer is found in the Journey to know, love and serve God. (Head, heart, hands)
Part of helping people along this journey is providing guidance for next steps in faith. A tool that was created for this purpose can be found here (PDF Document). In some ways this tool, along with the next steps for head, heart and hands could be interpreted as a menu. The hope is that these will be more than that and be a useful tool to help not just individuals, but small groups and the entire congregation take next steps toward becoming deeply committed Christians. A journey on which we are all travelers. Although this is relatively developed, I believe that the Adult Discipleship team has some other things in the works that may prove to be much simpler and provide guidance for not just individuals, but small groups in this journey.
In what way do you see people equipped for growth in faith? Are there tangible tools? A menu? Skilled coaches, guides or “wait staff?”
