Annual Conference x 3

I am currently in Lake Junaluska, NC for the Western North Carolina Annual Conference (WNCC). My wife, Nicole, is from North Carolina and she was commissioned as a probationary elder of the WNCC. Yesterday we arrived for part of the opening worship service for the Kansas East Annual Conference and were there through the evening business session. Last night we spent time with some other younger clergy in the Kansas East conference – hanging out at Sonic in Baldwin City. Good times!

This is the third annual conference which we have attended within the past few weeks. There is diversity in location, theme, and feeling in each of the conferences. It is interesting to compare and contrast the experience, particularly in the amount of petitions that are brought before the annual conference. WNCC had the most by far of the three, followed by Kansas East and then Kansas West. In my opinion – some moving toward more effective ministry and some moving away from that purpose. However, I am not sure that simply volume of petitions makes a difference

By now, the Kansas East conference will have addressed the capital campaign related to the strategic plans. I am curious to know the result of that vote.
