Fast Friends or Future Foes: The Emerging Church and Southern Baptists (PDF Document)
I both enjoyed and learned from Dr. Devine’s article, Fast Friends or Future Foes: The Emerging Church and Southern Baptists. I gained greater understanding both of the emerging movement and Southern Baptists. Although I am often most interested in conversations within the denomination of which I am a part (United Methodist), it is refreshing to read from other perspectives. This helps me more carefully consider my own perspective and affiliations.
I found the article to be easy to read and engaging. Dr. Devine offers clarifications and considerations of the emerging movement within Christianity. He also makes application of this movement to the Southern Baptist Convention. I found this to be an insightful and a helpful way to consider how the emerging movement could be more deeply integrated with denominations. I recommend the article, regardless of your denominational affiliation or lack thereof.
