Climate Change – #bad09

I believe that it would be valuable for United Methodist annual conferences to mandate any new church construction be LEED certified. While this may lead to increased building cost, over time it yields positive benefits in energy and cost savings. This is a benefit for the denomination’s witness in the world and a positive benefit in the area of climate change.

I’m never in favor of unfunded mandates. I think the conference could encourage such a move, but not mandate it.
