Adventures in Marriage Officiation – Part 3 of 5

It is a blessing to be a part of services of Christian marriage. Each one is an adventure. Here is a story from a service earlier in the year…

Previously, you have read a story about a couple that I was not so sure about. This is not always the case. One marriage at which I officiated this summer just felt great – the couple were honest, open, enthusiastic and humble in their approach to marriage. They were not sure where the next step in life was going to take them, but they were sure about their relationship and each other. It was a joy to get to know them through the process and to hear from them both after they returned from their honeymoon.

However, I recognize that my observations before during and just after the marriage ceremony really have no bearing on how a couple’s relationship will continue to develop. I tell each couple that when times get tough in their marriage and they are looking for some guidance that the church and myself will be available. Bottom line – I have no way to predict how a couple will function in their marriage. I can strive to provide the best possible care before, during and after their marriage.
