Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Last night was the first meeting of The Secret Message of Jesus – A Book Discussion at Resurrection. It was great. There were about 40 people who gathered to discuss Part One of the book. It was a good mix of people – first time attender to several who had been at Resurrection over 10 years. Only a few had previously read any books by Brian McLaren. We split up into six groups for small group discussion for a majority of our time together. When we came back together as a large group, I attempted to address some of the questions that were raised in the groups.

Over the next several days, I will address the questions that were raised by each group. You are invited to join in the conversation in each of these posts. Look for the first question later today.

Hi Andrew – Is that about the size of crowd you can expect at Resurrection for a typical book study? I’m just curious about the dynamics of a congregation that size. Also, were most of these people from your “pastorate” or did they come from across the congregation? Just curious, thanks!

Matt – Average size really depends on the type of promotion that was done for the event. Usually there is online registration and a cap placed, based on space available and desired size of class. This is the first book study which I have taught and I am not sure what numbers are for other studies. Most of the people were not from my pastorate – seemed to be cross section of the congregation. Hope that is helpful!

deviant monk – Jason Bourne was not there… at least as far as I know…
