Thoughts of Resurrection at 37signals Product Blog

This morning my use of Highrise was featured at the 37 signals Product Blog at the post – Pastor uses Highrise to keep track of interactions with his congregation. I have found Highrise to be a great tool for ministry.

Thoughts of Resurrection contains my thoughts on faith, life and ministry. Feel free to browse around. Some top posts for the past 30 days are:

Andrew,

Congrats on being featured – this is a really neat application of Highrise, and it got me wondering just how much of a ChMS can be built on platforms like Highrise, Backpack, and Basecamp. Jeff Berg has put together a really cool worship planning platform called Planning Center Online that is very much a Basecamp-like application geared toward the worship planning process. I’m definitely interested in getting your input for our development of SharePoint for use at Resurrection. How do the rest of the pastorates staff view your approach?

It’s definitely interesting to see how our generation of the clergy is approaching ministry, with technology as a core component of strategy rather than a peripheral tool.

I’m very familiar with Highrise – is it possible to put together a Highrise application such as yours that’s exportable to anyone in ministry that wants to use it? This seems like it would be of tremendous value to some smaller churches that don’t have this kind of capability.

Andrew,

Stumbled upon your thoughts about Highrise on 37signals and thought – that church & name sound really familiar. 🙂

Glad you and Nicole are doing well after leaving Wesley. Best wishes.

Ian – Thanks for the comments. How much do you think could be built toward a ChMS on platforms like those from 37signals? I would particularly be interested in this with the possibility of being a part of a new congregation start in the future.

Thanks to the link to the Planning Center Online. That looks like it has some great functionality. I may bring it up with some of the worship planning team to see if it might be helpful here.

I am not familiar with SharePoint at all, but would be more than willing to provide input in whatever way might be helpful. As far as I know, other pastors keep paper files which can provide a similar history of a particular individual at a glance. However, this comes without the interactivity and flexibility of tagging, assigning tasks for follow-up, etc.

As far as I can tell, Highrise could be functional and utilized at any size of church – it is free for a single person and is completely based on the web.
