Podcasts…

In addition to reading blogs, I listen to several podcasts to learn about ministry and hear from others about what is happening in the life of the church. What is a podcast you might ask – find more information here. Here are some to which I currently subscribe (These links will take you to the iTunes Music Store with the exception of #6 which will take you directly to the gCast site):

  1. Catalyst Podcast
    1. Good thoughts on leadership. Generally includes an interview with a leader within the church community and is less than one hour.
  2. Creative Synergy
    1. This podcast addresses creativity and communication within the context of the church.
  3. Emergent Podcast
    1. Weekly podcast from Emergent Village. Usually less than an hour – includes interviews, listener submissions and others.
  4. NPR: This I Believe
    1. 5-7 minute podcast of the NPR feature that a monologue about the belief of one individual. More information here.
  5. pray-as-you-go
    1. Daily guided prayer produced by the Jesuit Media Initiatives in the UK. Excellent 10-15 minute time of prayer.
  6. revkevinwatson’s podcast
    1. Weekly sermons at Lamont United Methodist Church from my friend, Kevin Watson.
  7. The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Weekly Sermons
    1. This is pretty self explanatory, and sometimes I do want to hear the sermon from the weekend again.
  8. Wired Parish Cafe (The Free Cast)
    1. This is the free version of podcasts available at wiredparish.com. From their website: “connecting the most challenging and profound voices of the church with people who want to make a difference.” Usually less than 30 minutes.

Do you listen to podcasts? Do you have recommendations of podcasts about faith, life and ministry?

I actually listen to your church’s podcast.
I also listen to Erwin Mcmanus from Mosaic Church’s podcast.

Although, they’ve just been sitting in my iTunes, because i just haven’t had time to sit and listen.

At the risk of blatant self-aggrandizement, (a risk which I am perfectly willing to accept) I have begun my own podcast. It’s going to contain theological content, perhaps some original music, and videos I make. You can link to it directly from my site.

Have a nice 4th of July.

i think i am subscribe to too many.. len sweet does one called napkin scribbles. uk emergent podcast is really good. monastery podcast is probably the better music/prayers i download.

Joseph – I hear you about having time to listen to them. Sometimes I try to multitask and that doesn’t always work out the best.

deviant monk – No need to apologize. I’ll check it out.

Gavin – Thanks for the tips.

All – I have subscribed to all of your suggestions and will look forward to trying them out over the next week or so.

Andrew – Thanks for the plug for my podcast! I will be updating it from the sermons from while I was on vacation tomorrow. One of them is from a Kansan, Dr. Steve Rankin, who graciously filled the pulpit while I was in New York City.
