After the announcement of the first round of General Conference balloting, and the second round of balloting the next order of business at the plenary session was a Resolution to Enter a Capital Campaign from the Kansas West Conference Focus Team. A representative from Tyler Associates presented results of a feasibility study with a recommendation that had been prepared for Annual Conference.
The recommendation for a $4.2 million capital campaign in support of camping, church growth and development and campus ministry was overwhelmingly approved.
I think that this is great good news for the United Methodist Church in Kansas. I have thought a lot about revitalization and renewal within the denomination in the state and think that this is a positive step in that direction. My hope is that the Kansas East Annual Conference will approve a similar campaign so that the state will be united in moving forward in this effort of revitalization and renewal.
