Welcome and Hospitality

The following video was brought to my attention by Lisa Diehl in the post, What’s the worst that could happen? It presents an example of hospitality done very poorly.

This video is from the The Meeting House.

This is obviously a horrible example of how to greet and welcome visitors. I have experienced many different acts of hospitality in the worship service – receiving a rose, receiving a loaf of bread, standing up and saying my name and where I am from, signing my name on an attendance pad, warm greeting from someone sitting nearby, etc.

What type of welcome have you experienced in a worship gathering?

The worst is when someone who rarely comes to church is greeted by “Wow! The walls are still standing”! I’ve seen it and it makes me want to act in an un-christian like manner.
