How did interpretation of the Kingdom of Heaven go wrong?

I want to answer this question and avoid generalizations. There have been different interpretations across time about what the Kingdom of God or Kingdom of Heaven is and when or how it may be present or coming. Each of us may have our own nuanced interpretation of what the Kingdom of God may be or mean. Our interpretations come from a particular place – our personal faith, the tradition in which we were raised, what our thoughts on the church are, the type of society in which we live, etc. There are many different factors which shape our interpretation of the Kingdom of God, scripture, sacraments, and many other topics of faith.

I believe that the Kingdom of God has been interpreted by many different denominations and faith communities in ways that are plain different. My hope is to be a part of a community that is faithful and relevant in living in and into the Kingdom of God.

This is part of a series of posts responding to questions raised in The Secret Message of Jesus – A Book Discussion at Resurrection.

“I believe that the Kingdom of God has been interpreted by many different denominations and faith communities in ways that are plain different.”

Is this the same as plain wrong?
