Third Grade Bible Exploration

Last night, my wife, Nicole and I had the opportunity to be a part of the Third Grade Bible Exploration last night through serving communion. The Third Grade Bible Exploration is a special event that is a part of the Kids COR ministry at Resurrection. It was a very cool event. The third graders that were there had received a Bible from the church in a worship service in the fall. This event was designed to give them an introduction to the Bible and get them excited about reading it.

There are several things that I found exciting about this event:

  • It took place about 6 months after the third graders initially received their Bibles – ongoing commitment and encouragement for them.
  • It was an exciting environment and everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun.
  • It was from 5:00 to 9:00 PM on a Friday night – parents could have the opportunity to have a bit of a night out.

It is always special to have the opportunity to serve communion. This was also particularly meaningful for me because I was a part of the service in the fall in which each third grader received their Bible. It was encouraging and heart warming to see continued growth and encouragement for reading and studying the Bible.

Andrew, your post brought back memories of my fourth grade Sunday School promotion. In the church where I grew up, they presented a new Bible to every fourth grader. I remember that moment so well–what a treasure! I still have that little black Bible with the detailed maps at the back.
