This month it has been an adventure to go to conferences, retreats and workshops. Throughout the month I attended:
- Kansas Area Professional Seminar for Ministry
- Kansas Area Self-Care Workshop
- Congregational Care Team Retreat
- Kansas West Board of Ordained Ministry Provisional Members Retreat
- Kansas East Residency Retreat
All of these events have been good, but it has been a lot of time out of the office. It has been an adventure trying to stay on top of the responsibilities for the N-R pastorate and also having the opportunity to network and stay in connection with other United Methodist Clergy.
It was a great Leadership Institute. My dad came up for the Institute and also stayed with us, which was a lot of fun. I enjoyed each of the plenaries and made it through two workshops with Jeff Clinger and Amanda Smith in what turned out to be a great collaboration. I also particularly enjoyed making connections with old friends and having conversations about ministry in Kansas with new friends.
Make sure and check out photos from Leadership Institute here (primarily thanks to Clif Guy) and upload your own to Flickr with the tag “li2008”
While the church is closed today, I am getting some clinical time in at Saint Luke’s for CPE and then to class time. I hope that you are having a great day
What are you doing in the first part of October? I want to personally invite you to Leadership Institute and Contemporary Worship Institute here at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners will be the keynote speaker for Leadership Institute.
Contemporary Worship Institute
I am looking forward to presenting with Jeff and Amanda in the workshop – Equipping Volunteers to Care for the Congregation. Leave a comment if you are planning on being here and I would love to meet you in person.
