A couple weeks ago, Dan Entwistle asked what I was doing at Discovery Ark preschool and he said,
Wherever you are there is either opportunity or tragedy.
As a pastor, I hope that this is true. I hope to see opportunities everywhere to be a catalyst for God’s work and be present with those who are in need of a reminder of hope in the face of tragedy.
That morning I happened to have the opportunity to pray with the teachers at Discovery Ark grieving the death of one of the young mothers whose child is a member of the preschool.
Tragedy / Opportunity
Opportunity / Tragedy
As a pastor, I believe that equipping others for God’s work in the world is my primary role. I believe that if, as a leader, I can be effective in this area the impact on the world will grow exponentially. Currently, I find myself most active in this area in working with a team of Congregational Care Ministers. I have seen the care for the congregation increase far beyond what I would be able to do by myself as this team continues to grow and develop. I hope to continue to equip them in new and different ways.
I believe that this will be an important role no matter what future church setting I might find myself in.
- How do you equip others for God’s work?
- What have you found to be helpful in this area?
- Are there any resources or events that you would recommend?
