“Purify me with hyssop and I will be clean;
wash me and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and celebration again;
let the bones you crushed rejoice once more.” – Psalm 51:7-8 (CEB)
Purify me with hyssop and I will be clean. Let me hear joy and celebration again.
That second line is the one to carry in this morning. David is not asking to feel better about himself. He is asking for joy to come back, which means he knows it left.
Come and bring whatever you have been carrying. Join us this morning at 8:30 or 10:15, as we ask God together for a clean heart and for the joy that follows it. Online worship is available at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.
God, give me back the joy I have lost. Make my heart new this morning, and let me come to worship with nothing hidden from you. Amen.
