When the End Comes
John 19:23-30, CEB · Witnesses: Encountering Jesus When It Matters Most
You know the moment. Someone you love is hurting, and you don’t know what to say. The hospital room feels too small. The silence stretches. Everything in you wants to fix it, and when you can’t fix it, everything in you wants to leave.
We’ve all felt that pull. The friend going through a divorce who keeps telling the same story. The parent whose memory is slipping away. The neighbor whose grief has gone on longer than we expected. We show up once, maybe twice. We bring a casserole. We send a card. And then, quietly, we find reasons to be somewhere else.
