When Follow-Through Fails
John 18:29 · Witnesses: Encountering Jesus When It Matters Most
“So Pilate went out to them and asked, ‘What charge do you bring against this man?’” — John 18:29 (CEB)
Pilate starts by asking the right question. He goes to the accusers. He seeks facts. He even declares Jesus innocent. His failure wasn’t in his thinking. It was in his follow-through.
Tomorrow at McPherson First, we continue walking with the witnesses who encountered Jesus when it mattered most. This week we explored what happens when truth faces power and what Pilate’s story reveals about our own calculations. Bring those reflections with you. Notice who around you is telling the truth when it costs them something.
We’d love to see you—8:30 AM with hymns and organ music or 10:15 AM with the praise team. You can also join us online at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst. Come as you are, with whatever questions this week stirred up.
God, as we prepare for worship, align our hearts with your truth. Help us become people whose follow-through matches what we know to be right. Amen.
