Tried and True
2 Timothy 2:15 (CEB) · Passing the Flame
“Make an effort to present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker, who doesn’t need to be ashamed but is one who interprets the message of truth correctly.” — 2 Timothy 2:15 (CEB)
Paul closes the section with a phrase from the workshop. Tried-and-true. Tested. The kind of tool that has held up under use. That is a different goal than perfection. You have been through something, and you are still here. The flame is still lit.
Today, come to the table of the one who was tested at Gethsemane, tried at the cross, and proved true at the empty tomb. Receive the strength to keep going. Online worship is available at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.
God whose faithfulness has been tested in the worst places and held, meet us at the table today. Make us tried-and-true, one week at a time, for the sake of the people counting on the flame we carry. Amen.
