“The Israelites walked into the sea on dry ground. The waters formed a wall for them on their right hand and on their left.” – Exodus 14:22 (CEB)
Yesterday God said keep still. Today they walk into a sea.
Both sit in the same story, eight verses apart, and neither one cancels the other. God does what only God can do. Then the people put one foot in front of the other. Nobody waits on the bank for a written invitation. They go in.
That is what service looks like most of the time. Not heroics. Walking in. This week, try walking in with someone. Family Service is the practice of serving alongside the people you live with, so that going becomes something your household does together instead of one more thing you squeeze in alone. Pick one thing. Take somebody with you.
What would walking in look like for your household this week?
Tomorrow we come to the Lord’s Table on World Communion Sunday, with Christians walking in all over the world. Come and be part of it. We worship at 8:30 and 10:15. Online worship is available at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.
God, you opened the way. Now give us feet. Let our household walk in together, and let the going be its own kind of worship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
