The Welcome You Pass On

“So now, if you faithfully obey me and stay true to my covenant, you will be my most precious possession out of all the peoples, since the whole earth belongs to me. You will be a kingdom of priests for me and a holy nation.” – Exodus 19:5-6 (CEB)
A kingdom of priests is not a private honor. A priest stands in the doorway and helps other people come in. God treasures this freed people and then, in the same breath, gives them a calling: be the ones who open the door for others.
We were welcomed first. That is the whole order of things. Nobody at that mountain earned their way to the front, and the welcome we received was never meant to stop with us. This week, practice hospitality on purpose. Notice the person standing where you once stood, unsure whether they belong, and hold the door.
