The Locked Door That Opened
Exodus 19:4 (CEB) · The Good Life
“You saw what I did to the Egyptians, and how I lifted you up on eagles’ wings and brought you to me.” – Exodus 19:4 (CEB)
A delivery once took me to a building I had never entered. I went to the visitor’s door, but the sign-in screen wouldn’t take my name, and the door stayed locked. So I stood there, on the wrong side, waiting, wondering who would let me in.
A lot of us carry that feeling toward God. We assume the door is locked, the system won’t accept us, we don’t know the protocol. But listen to what God tells Israel at the mountain, before a single command, before they prove anything: I carried you here. I brought you to me. The door was never the test. God opened it and lifted them through. You are not standing outside hoping to be noticed. You have already been carried in.
Where are you standing outside a door you assumed was shut to you?
God who opens what we cannot, quiet the fear that we don’t belong. Carry us through the doors we are afraid to knock on. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
