“I will remember the covenant between me and you and every living being among all the creatures. Floodwaters will never again destroy all creatures.” – Genesis 9:15 (CEB)
“Never again.” God does not hand Noah a better forecast or a promise of no more storms. God offers something sturdier: a limit on the storm, a word that the waters will not have the last say. This is not a promise that life gets easy. It is a promise that God will not let the flood be the end of the story.
That is the difference faith makes. Not the absence of hard water, but the presence of a God who has drawn a line the water cannot cross. When we step into the promises of this church, we join that kind of covenant company, a people learning to trust the “never again” of God. What flood in your life do you need to hand to the God who says the water will not win?
God of the covenant, you set a limit the flood cannot cross. When I fear the rising water, hold me to your “never again.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
