How To Be A Megastar

I heard one of the most convicting messages that I have heard in recent weeks on Saturday night from the Blue Man Group on the How To Be A Megastar Tour 2.0. I really had no idea what to expect. It was a great show with percussion, band, video narrative, antics, and several unexpectedly hard hitting messages.
Throughout the show there was an ongoing video narrative about the masks that people wear to conceal from others and themselves the reality of their lives. One person was portrayed as taking off a mask over and over simply to find another one underneath, trying to escape an office on the top floor when hope and expectations of satisfaction in a job prove to be unfulfilled.
In addition to this narrative, there was also a clear indictment of global warming and the role that humans, and particularly those in North America, have played in negatively affecting the environment.
Thoughts...
I believe as a Christian, I should live as authentically as possible - not wearing masks that conceal who I am. I am also called to help other people remove the masks that they wear in front of the world. I believe that authenticity is an integral part to living in a Christian community.
As Christians, we are called to be stewards of God's creation. This has implications in global warming and many other areas.
This concert also reminded me of the importance of bold proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ. There is a message that is both good and news which is at the heart of the mission of the church.
