“Abram left just as the Lord told him, and Lot went with him. Now Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran.” – Genesis 12:4 (CEB)
Abram left just as the Lord told him. No debate recorded, no list of conditions, no waiting for a better season. And notice the detail Genesis adds: Abram was seventy-five years old.
Most of us assume the big steps of faith belong to the young, that by a certain age our road is set. Abram’s story says otherwise. It’s never too late to answer a call. God is not finished calling people at forty, or sixty, or eighty. The question is never whether we’re the right age. The question is whether we’ll go when God says go. What call have you assumed was behind you that God might still be holding open?
Faithful God, you called Abram late and he still went. Free me from thinking my time to answer has passed, and give me the readiness to say yes. Through Christ, Amen.
