One Easter our communion table nearly ran dry. So many people kept coming that the servers ran out of bread and juice, more than once, and we had to keep bringing more. I have never forgotten it. The table didn’t run short because people stopped coming. It ran short because they wouldn’t stop coming, and there was still room and still more to give.
That is the picture of God’s economy: not scarcity, but enough that keeps overflowing. Tomorrow we gather around that table, and contentment has a strange way of turning outward there. When you finally believe you have enough, your hands relax, and everyday generosity becomes natural, sharing freely because you are no longer afraid of running out.

God of the overflowing table, free me from the fear of not enough. Fill my open hands, and make me generous, because in you I already have more than enough. Through Christ I pray. Amen.
