Brought to Me

Exodus 19:4 (CEB) · The Good Life

“You saw what I did to the Egyptians, and how I lifted you up on eagles’ wings and brought you to me.” – Exodus 19:4 (CEB)

Read the end of that sentence again: brought you to me. The exodus was not only an escape from something. It was a journey toward someone. God did not rescue Israel just to set them loose in the desert. The rescue had a destination, and the destination was relationship.

This is what waits on the other side of the open door. Not a building. Not a program. Not a set of rules to keep. A God who says, I brought you here so we could be together. So much of life is spent being needed for what we produce. The mountain offers something different: to be wanted for who you are, brought close by a God who went to great lengths to reach you. The door opens onto belonging.

You have been rescued from plenty. Have you noticed who you have been rescued toward?

God who brings us to yourself, thank you that the journey ends in your presence. Draw us closer still, until belonging feels like home. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
