“All the families of the earth will be blessed because of you.” – Genesis 12:3 (CEB)
From the very beginning, God’s blessing of one family had the whole world in view. Abram was chosen, but never for Abram’s sake alone. This is worth remembering whenever faith starts to feel like a private possession, something just between me and God.
Scripture keeps pushing the circle wider. The point of being blessed is always, eventually, other people, including the ones outside our usual circle, the families not like ours. Living faith out loud means letting our blessing spill past the people we already love. Who is outside your circle that God might be sending your blessing toward?
God of all peoples, you never meant your blessing to stop with me. Widen my circle until it reaches the families I would have overlooked. Through the love of Christ, Amen.
