One of my favorite spaces in Kansas is Botanica. It is a beautiful community garden in downtown Wichita. I took this picture years ago on the way out of the Downing Children’s Garden. This garden’s design is for children with whimsical statues, musical instruments, and surprises around each corner on the path.
When we lived close to Wichita, our family visited regularly. Particularly during the summer. While I haven’t visited in some time, even this picture takes me back to a different season in my life. Perhaps, it is a bit of a thin place where I feel rooted in my identity and connected with family.
