Potluck at Resurrection

After 2.5 years here at Resurrection, I am looking forward to a first for me here.

A potluck dinner.

You read that right.

This will be the first time that I have been to a potluck dinner at the church and to my knowledge this week is the first time that the church has hosted a potluck dinner since at leats July 1, 2006. As a congregational care team, we are hosting dinner with your pastor to give people in the congregation the opportunity to get to know thier pastor better. Likewise, the opportunity for me to get to know people in the congregation better. Care for more information? Check out this link.

I am excited for this event and hope that there will be a good enough response so that we will do it again some time.

My assumption is that this might be surprising to you. Is that right?

I haven’t been to a pot luck in ages! Even the last church Nick was at (in Michigan with about 1,200 members) didn’t do pot lucks due to health codes. I grew up with pot luck dinners and loved them. I’m bummed to be missing this one!

Helen – Thanks for the response. I had not thought about health codes… Hmm… I think we’ll be okay. I think that we might have some more planned in the future – depending on how the week goes with each dinner. πŸ™‚

Wow a potluck with how many people invited….now that should be interesting. Better alert KFC, you might just end up with 1000 buckets of chicken.

I haven’t been to a potluck at our church, since, ah… last Sunday… The bowls of “jello” should be overwhelming!!! We are a small town/rural church and potlucks are a long tradition. Wasn’t the “Last Supper” really a potluck??? Oh, well, have a good time. Too bad I live so far away or I would be there.
