Will drift away from formalism and business as usual, towards an ethic of following the ancient and innovative winds of the Holy Spirit.
Since I’ll be ordained as an Elder next Wednesday, I hope that annual conference this year will be something deep and formative that will help sustain me during my years of ministry ahead as I embrace this new identity.
I hope that this year’s Annual Conference will help us do the work of the church and not just church work.
I hope that this year’s annual conference will be a sacred time of holy conferencing, where the business that must be covered will be encompassed in a dialogue about who are we, where is God calling us, and who are our neighbors, with whom we are called to journey.

I hope this year’s annual conference will be welcoming of the stranger. I hope during this years’s annual conference folk will invite others they don’t know to sit with them at meals or make room for those who are by themselves, offering hositality and a friendly word. I hope this year’s annual conference is one of connection to one another on a personal level, when we arrive as strangers and leave as friends, maybe agreeing to disaggree on certain issues and let the Holy Spirit sort things out, but warm hearted towards each other nonetheless. Then I will know the Holy Spirit blew in, among and through us. I will be praying for that.
