Good Friends

This weekend my wife, Nicole, and I had the great opportunity to spend time with Kevin Watson and Doug Strong. They were in town to teach in the Wesley Academy at Resurrection. Along with others, they are co-authors of a recently released book Reclaiming the Wesleyan Tradition: John Wesley’s Sermons for Today. I have not yet had a chance to read this text, but I have heard great things from those who have. I am looking to reading it.

Kevin was a classmate at Wesley Theological Seminary for several years, graduated a year before Nicole and I and is currently serving a United Methodist Church in Oklahoma. Doug was a professor at Wesley while I was there and I took what classes I could with him. Doug is now the dean of the school of theology at Seattle Pacific University. I came to know both of them well. They are both great men of God.

It was good for my soul to spend time with them talking about life, ministry, hopes and dreams. We share a passion for renewal within the church. It is good to share life with people who are earnestly seeking to follow God’s call in their life and who care about the call that God has in your life. I hope to continue to stay in touch with each of them and their families.

Who are people with whom you share life? Do you have people in your life with whom you can talk about your hopes, dreams and the ways that you feel God may be calling you?
