07-04-15 Pastoral Prayer

I was a part of the leadership for worship at three of the services this weekend. Worship attendance was down from Easter (not a surprise), but not sure how it stacked up with pre-Easter. Next week is the start of  a new sermon series – Journey Through the New Testament. Here is my prayer from the weekend.

Prayer Introduction

We feel God’s presence here in the midst of music, lyrics and instruments. I invite you to speak to God with me as we join together in prayer.

Pastoral Prayer

O God, we bless you and worship you in humility. You are awesome and we can barely comprehend the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. You send the peace of your Holy Spirit to us and to all the world. We come to you humble and recognizing our brokenness. We live in a world that is not perfect and we live lives that are far from your plan. We are ashamed and admit to you now in silence the wrongs that we have done this week.

You have shattered the power of death and give us the chance to live into the dream that you have for this world.

Heal our broken hearts.
Lead us to the truth.

Thank you for the blessing of being a part of a community where journey together as we all learn how to be your disciples. Send us out to be a part of your movement through the nations. Send our lives on a flight carried by the breath of your Holy Spirit.

Strengthen those who are weak.
Give power to those who are helpless.
Give us the voice to speak for those who cannot speak.

Open our head, our heart and our hands to receive your Holy Spirit as we pray together the prayer which Jesus taught his disciples…
