Metrics for the UMC: Numbers ≠ Vitality (3 of 3)

At our last district clergy meeting our District Superintendent was speaking about metrics and vital churches and wanted to make one thing clear:

Numbers are not vitality. Numbers are contextual.

This is so true. Numbers give us insight but they are not vitality. I found a similar thought expressed on Twitter recently





383 New Members at Resurrection

On February 8, 383 new adults youth and children joined Resurrection.

While at times I have become familiar with large numbers of people at church, this boggles my mind. Each one represents a life that has been changed in some way through the presence of Resurrection in the community.

Numbers can be measured, but how do you measure life change?
